This comment is really more of a testimonial.

I would like to urge aspiring writers to participate in the Just Write for Kids class — I have found it so helpful to me, both in terms of the picture book manuscripts I have worked on both during and since the class, as well as in applying the basic tools learned in the class to my writing in other genres.

Although I haven’t (as yet) pursued the one-to-one mentoring, from my experience with Emma through the Children’s Book Hub, and through her freelance editing service, I am quite confident in saying that the one-to-one mentoring would be invaluable for a writer, whether aspiring or more established.

I have written a narrative of a special place I would go every summer with my family, Great Granny’s Pier. It is special to me because the time I focus on is right before and after my father tragically was killed in a car wreck. I don’t mention that in my manuscript but it is a journey back in time to find and renew my memories of my Great Grandmother who raised my father. She inspired me through her love of fishing and patience. She fished off her pier and while writing I recall how stoic she always appeared to be. Just like her pier.

I’m looking for an editor. I know the manuscript needs a lot of help but it means so much to me to publish. It is a narrative written in the 60’s with me thinking back at the beginning.

I do offer freelance editing services. Please visit my website – – for details. Alternatively, the Society for Childrens Book Writers and Illustrators maintains a good list of editors.
